Support the 2019 Clinical Practice Guidelines
Opportunities exist to support the 2019 Prevention and Treatment of Pressure Ulcers/Injuries: Clinical Practice Guideline! We will be accepting support starting this fall. Click here to view the opportunities available.
The Clinical Practice Guideline presents recommendations and summarizes the supporting evidence for pressure injury prevention and treatment. The first edition was developed as a four year collaboration between the National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel (NPUAP) and the European Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel (EPUAP). In the second edition of the guideline, the Pan Pacific Pressure Injury Alliance (PPPIA) joined the NPUAP and EPUAP.
The third edition of the guideline will be released in November 2019. The goal of this international collaboration was to develop evidence-based recommendations for the prevention and treatment of pressure injuries that could be used by health professionals throughout the world. An explicit scientific methodology has been used to identify and critically appraise all available research.
The 2019 version contains an updated review of the research literature and recommendations that reflect the most recent evidence. It provides a detailed analysis and discussion of available research, critical evaluation of the assumptions and knowledge in the field, recommendations for clinical practice, a description of the methodology used to develop the guideline and acknowledgements of the many experts formally involved in the development process. The final guideline is based on the best available research in pressure injuries and the accumulated wisdom of the NPUAP,
EPUAP, PPPIA and international stakeholders. Additionally, the methodology for this third edition of the guideline has placed greater emphasis on the perspectives of patients and informal caregivers, with the results of a global patient survey incorporated into recommendations and their strengths.
Please note, Guidelines support is separate from support for the 2019 Guidelines Launch Event. More information on the launch event may be found here.
