Speaker Bio

Dr. Lee Ruotsi, MD, ABWMS, CWS-P, UHM is the Medical Director of the Catholic Health Advanced Wound Healing Program in Buffalo, NY, and is Fellowship Program Director for the Wound Care Fellowship. Dr. Ruotsi is board certified in Wound Care by the American Board of Wound Medicine and Surgery, certified as a Wound Specialist (CWS-P) by the American Board of Wound Management, board certified in Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine by the American Board of Preventive Medicine and is additionally certified as a Diving Medical Officer (DMO) by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Dr. Ruotsi oversees three outpatient wound healing centers with hyperbaric medicine services, as well as an inpatient wound care program, and lectures nationally and internationally on wound care and hyperbaric medicine. He is on the Board of Directors of both the American Board of Wound Medicine and Surgery and NPUAP. 

 

Session Description:

Pressure injury staging and treatment continues to be a challenging undertaking for nurses as well as health care providers of all levels.  This session will focus on the definition of the various stages and categories of pressure injury along with graphic and photographic descriptions of each of these stages and categories, with suggestions for treatment based on stage.   

 

Webinar Objectives:  
  • Describe the various categories of pressure injury as set forth by the NPUAP.
  • Discuss criteria for pressure injury staging based on appearance of the skin and/or identifiable tissue(s) in the wound bed.
